The System Punishes The Honest – Akua Blakofe

Former Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC) Oheneba Akua Manfo, popularly known as Akua Blakofe has expressed disappointment regarding Ghana’s Arts industry.

Her comments come after Socrate Safo, a leading member for NPP’s Creative Arts for Change and Director for Creative Arts at the National Commission on Culture (NCC), has been delirious on social media – raising concerns over his current state of mind.

According to EntertainmentGh, Mr. Safo’s despondency stems from the fact that, since the NPP assumed office and appointment was offered him as Director at the NCC, no funds have been allocated to his outfit. The lack of funds and support from the Government to his unit has virtually put all plans, projects and operations of his outfit in limbo.

Reacting to claims by Enoch Agyapong suggesting to the Director for Creative Arts at the National Commission on Culture (NCC) to spill the beans, Blakofe remarked how difficult it is to speak the truth and be supported.

She further commented that the system rather punishes genuine people and allows corrupt individuals to get the masses on their side.

“It’s sad. If only we all spoke the truth and then was supported. But the system punishes the honest so people think of their stomach. All the people that would complain to me about Afeku, Kwadwo and Akwesi, none were men enough to come out. Meanwhile, because Kwadwo was awarded with the position, he’s still at post. It’s sickening.

Even YOR, I didn’t see any special tour package from GTDC, the official govt agency for tours. Ah well, nothing we can do about any Government. Whoever is in power at the time is all-powerful and can shit in our mouths. We simply gobble it all up. Then wait for the next govt to do same. #CycleOfShit” She wrote on Facebook
