Maiden edition of Ghana Most Outstanding Women Awards, an award scheme initiated to honor women who are involved in social change and are contributing their quota to the development of Ghana has crowned international jazz superstar Stephanie Benson as “Best Outstanding Woman in Music” at the just ended event which took place at Alisa Hotel last Friday, 30/11/18.
She was nominated alongside her sister Akosua Adjapong, Wiyaala, Mzvee, Philipa Baafi, Joyce Blessing and Ethel Esi Ehsun. She stood tall as the best among the rest. Women from all walk of life lighted up the venue.
The renowned vocalist stirred feelings of admiration in auditorium when she walked up on stage with her sister Akosua Adjapong to pick up her award. One of my desired quotes by Albert Pine, states; “What we do for ourselves die within us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal”. I quoted Albert Pine since; his quote best explains the kind gesture Stephanie portrayed towards her kid sister and other women. It also mirrors her love for humanity.
During her thanksgiving remarks, she called to mind how she battled with breast cancer for 3 years, however she survived. Her significant message to the addressees principally the women was, everything she does is to empower women and plant the seed of thought in their mind anything, they put their mind to can be achieved; using herself as a classical example of a living testimony.

She has breast cancer foundation called “Stephanie Benson Breast Care Foundation” on purpose to inform, empower, edutain, create awareness and support women living with breast cancer in her best possible way. She’s been advocating this course for years, it’s no surprise she won.
