H.E. NANA ADDO DANKWA AKUFO ADDO WITNESSES ETWIENANANOM GENERAL ELECTION AND SWEARING IN OF THE NEW COUNCIL EXECUTIVES

New executive council members have been elected for  the Etwienananom fraternity. The voting exercise happened at the Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori-Panin (Chief of Akyem Abuakwa State) Ahenfie in Adabraka, Accra.

The Zulu proverb “Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu” expresses a profound truth embedded deep within the core of traditional African values. It translates into English as “a person is a person because of people.” Other translations state “a person is a person through other persons.” In either case, this compelling truth about what it means to be a “human” in the African context reveals the wisdom of our ancestors and the tremendous beauty of our way.

According to African ancestral teachings, personhood is understood as a process and the product of interconnectedness experienced and or achieved in the context of the community. It in this interconnectedness that we hold dear as Etwienananom of the Great Ofori-Panin Stool.
The Leopard is the symbol of the King of the Forrest. The persona -the king of the Forrest (kwaebribrimuhene) is the occupant of the Ofori Panin stool. Hence Okyenhene Osagefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin.

All decendants of the Ofori Panin stool are known as etwieba and etwienananom irrespective of their Akan clan family lineage. The President of the Republic, H.E. NANA AKUFO ADDO is an etwienana hence the special Guest of Honor who witnessed the election of the New Council members and with him were other notable etwienananom Hon. Ken ofori Atta (Minister of Finance) and Gabby Okyere Darko.

As proud members of the Etwienananom picked up completed forms and went through the necessary processes to be voted as members of the council for the two-year tenure, little did they know the time was actually near.

Under a period of days, prospective candidates used all means possible to campaign massively to convince other eligible members to vote in their favor.

24hours prior to the debate, brief profiles of Candidates were shared on the family’s social media platform, to mainly bring candidates closer to their voters.

This electoral exercise I believe was very helpful and necessary because, it revealed the entirety of the candidates to the house. The subtle campaigns went on throughout the night until 12 am where campaigns were completely halted.

Etwienananom from all walks of life trooped the Ahenfie and one could see the excitement and anticipation in the atmosphere as it also served as a bonding time for all aside from casting their votes.

Just as it was planned, each member had their votes peacefully after the opening prayers was offered by Joe Twum-Barimah. All was ready for members to cast their votes and one after the other, votes were casted.

At the end of the various voting processes, winners emerged in different capacities as votes were finally counted and declared by the Electoral office.

These are the New Council members of the Etwienananom, Chairperson-Nana Akosua Buo Gyankroma-Ahenenana Hemaa, Vice Chairman-Juaben Serwah Amofah, Secretary-William Kwasi Ofori-Atta, PRO- Rev Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, Organizer-Frederick Ohene Offei-Addo, Europe Representative- Alexandra Dankwa, America Representative- Kwaku Boateng, Treasurer-Nana Boakye Danquah Ofori-Atta, Member-Joe Twum-Barima, Member-Nana Yaa Ofori-Atta.
