Kofi Okyere Darko known in showbiz as KOD sits in for  Starr FM’s mid-Morning show host, Naa Ashorkor on The Zone while the latter takes a long leave.

KOD, who started on Monday, February 6, told us that his years of experience hosting mid -morning radio shows have made it “easy to fill in comfortably”.

“It’s been great so far……my first four days have been a bit short because of the ministerial vetting… My years of experience hosting mid -morning radio shows have made it easy to fill in comfortably. My vast knowledge of music will also lend a hand with what the audience will enjoy,” KOD assured.

With over 21 years of experience in the media, the 39-year-old trained broadcaster started working as a Copywriter and Production Assistant in the late 1990s. He joined Radio Gold in 1996 and has since been part of almost all the high end national and corporate events in Ghana.

Over the years, KOD has hosted events like the Ghana Music Awards (and served on the planning committee for 3 years), NescafĂ© African Revelations, Miss Ghana UK, the UN WAIPA conference in Ghana, Ghana@50 celebrations in Ghana, England and Switzerland and Kwame Nkrumah’s centenary celebrations among others.

He is currently the Marketing and Events Director of Live FM – owned by EIB Network, Creative President at Nineteen57 (Ghana’s leading male fashion brand), Proprietor of Garden of Eden School at Taifa, host of Live From The Capital on Live FM and was recently appointed as the Corporate Health Ambassador by the Sangy Group, a non-governmental organization that seeks to provide quality health prevention information and education for the youth.

KOD has no formal education in fashion designing. He is a gifted artist who did fine arts in secondary school and studied Communication at the Ghana Institute of Journalism. Like most people in the fashion industry, he sketched designs for tailors and his designer friends like Mawuli Kofi Okudzeto to make for him. KOD made his debut design on the continental platform when he designed an outfit for Kwaku T when he represented Ghana at Big Brother Africa in 2007.

A fashionista himself, KOD recently won the Most Stylist Radio Personality at the recently held Glitz Africa Style Awards. He always had the urge to get into the fashion industry and after years of being behind the scenes, NINETEEN57 BY KOD was launched six years ago.

Notable personalities like President Rawlings, late President Atta Mills, former Black Stars skipper Stephen Appiah, Michael Essien, Emmanuel Adebayor, Jamaican Reggae Star Buju Banton and International Gospel Star Sonnie Badu are part of his tall list of clientele.
