Ace Ghanaian broadcaster and cultural icon, Akumaa Mama Zimbi, known privately as Dr. Joyce Akumaa Dongotey-Padi has received two national awards concurrently. She has been conferred with the title ‘The Ambassador of Peace and Humanity’ when she received the Noble Order of Human Excellence Award.
She again received the National Peace Award which conferred on her the ‘The Culture of Peace Award’ for cultivating the spirit of peace and harmony within the hearts of children and adults for her tireless dedication for peace building within Ghana and worldwide.
These monumental awards were given to her by Stability Foundation International in collaboration with Ministry of Interior and the National Peace Council.
The awards were also in recognition of her continues contribution over the years to peace building in homes through her radio and television shows, empowering women especially widows and being a great role model to the youth of Ghana. With this new title, Mama Zimbi is expected to continue to empower women and re-engage the youth in participating in all processes of change and peace building.
Akumaa Mama Zimbi is a Ghanaian women’s rights leader, television and radio talk show host, actress, philanthropist, sex educator, relationship expert and marriage counselor committed to enhancing the status of underprivileged women in Ghana and reviving broken marriages.
She is also the Founder and Executive Director of Mama Zimbi Foundation (MZF), a non-governmental organization which seeks to empower and support thousands of widows through its Widows Alliance Network (WANE) project, and also involve in the issues of adolescents (Adolescents Sexual Reproductive Health) which initiated the popular #WearYourDrossNow campaign on the social media.
