Photos: Masaany Headlines The Monte Carlo Carnival, To Kick Off 2016 In An Exciting Way

On the eve of every new year, faithfuls throng churches in the bid to usher in the new year in a befitting manner. 

The dilemma for many, however remains how to celebrate the new year after it's ushered in. The streets of coastal towns are usually choked, as people make their way to the various beaches. 

However, the beaches become monotonous and boring,leaving many hunting for other ways to satisfy the hunger for fun and thrill.

The people of Tema for the past four years, have experienced new year thrill at it's peak. The annual Monte Carlo Street Carnival has brought constant thrill to the people of Tema and it's environs, as many thrill seekers journey to the 10th community of the municipality, to celebrate a new beginning. This year wasn't any different, as the Carnival was executed with the help of Kasapreko and Hitz Fm.

The artiste line up consisted of Opanka, Atom,  Abena Rockstar, CJ Biggaman, Criss Waddle, Yaa Pono and dancehall sensation Masaany serving as the headliner. From the set up of the free street concert, it was evident that the organizers had spent a lot of money. The stage and lights were on point and the co-ordination was impressive. 


The carnival was opened by a bunch of up-and-coming acts, that burned with zeal and hunger. The event which broadcast live on Hitz 103.9 fm, Saw many activities that gave patrons the chance to win goodies. Then came the artistes. 



MTN hitmaker's CJ Biggaman, came up to deliver heavy rap bars, laced with punchlines. This was followed by Opanka, who performed many songs including, Kwaw Kesse's "popping" on which he featured. The list continued with Abena Rockstar, Atom and others thrilling the fans, who had taken over the streets.

Then came time for the Headliner. This was an easy show for Masaany, who had been busy over the Christmas, playing a few commercial venues. The "Dancehall Messiah" was greeted with a wild series cheers from an adoring home crowd, before he began to dish out a great performance.

The artiste, who showed respect to Stonebwoy and other dancehall acts,seemed to put the crowd in a frenzy, every time he dropped a new track.

The people of Tema seemed to have had fun jamming with Masaany and the other acts, as they seemed not to have noticed that two of the billed acts,  failed to show up.  

MC's for the Night included, Mic Gizo, MC Coaches and Veteran Heavy Dee.
