Emma Nyra To Perform Live At The 5th Annual NAFCA & NAFCA Honors Hollywood 2015

Royalty, dignitaries, diplomats, Hollywood and African movies stars will be entertained by the Nigerian international recording artist, Emma Nyra at the prestigious awards in Hollywood.

Emma Nyra (real name Emma Chukwugoziam Obi) is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. Nyra was born on 18th July 1988 in California and raised in Texas by two Nigerian parents from Delta State. 

Her father is a pharmacist and her mother has had a home health practice. Best described as a Southern Belle with a Nigerian twang, her debut album "Emma Nyra Hot Like Fiya Vol. 1" is in the works.

When Emma Nyra was six years old, she already liked to sing and wanted to become a singer. However, she got a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Administration at the Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas, to please her parents and only then Nyra insisted on relocating to Nigeria.

In 2010, Emma Nyra met her manager, Ubi Franklin, during one of her Christmas visits to Nigeria.

In 2012, Nyra came to Lagos after her manager helped to convince her parents to allow Emma move to Nigeria.

Nyra also used to be a gymnast and a volleyball player. She worked on radio presenting for Flytime Entertainment. Nyra worked with such Nollywood stars as Ini Edo and Desmond Elliot.

The singer became popular after the song called ‘Your Waist’.

Nyra is a label mate of popular Nigerian singer Iyanya. In 2013, Emma Nyra performed on stages in the UK, the US and Canada as Iyanya went on tour to promote his second album.

In her own words about the male dominated music industry, she says "I intend to make my mark and to be the solution to a lack of strong voice coming from the female side! Im a singer and a rapper so Ill be sure to give them all a run for their money".

On September 12, 2015 The 5th NAFCA and NAFCA Honors will draw an affluent audience of over 2000 VIP guests from over 30 countries, as the legendary Orpheum Theatre of Los Angeles hosts the prestigious awards. This event titled The NAFCA and nicknamed The African Oscars by the press has limited number of VIP tickets available online at the Ticketmaster.
