Ever since he became self-conscious Nathan Kwabena Anokye Adisi better known as Bola Ray purposed in his heart to become an emperor not in the vein of Napoleon Bonaparte or Haile Selassie but an emperor in charge of business and lord over mighty investments and that dream is taking shape even before he hits 45.
Being the wise man he is Bola realized he had to serve to gain the knowledge and expansive network needed to achieve his dream and so Kokomlemle based Top Radio now Top FM was the point of call where he hosted the Top City Jam to great acknowledgement.
Neighbours Joy FM having observed his immense gifts quickly lured him to the Multimedia fold in 2003 where he served diligently as the host of the drive time for nearly a decade before taking a bow. At first Bola’s resignation took many by surprise who could not fathom where he was headed but the secret was soon out when Mr. Adisi soon took charge of the EIB group as CEO and host of Starr FM’s drive time show.
The marriage of Mr. Kwabena Adisi and former bank of Ghana governor Kwabena Dufuor is proving a lethal combination for in Bola Mr. Dufuor found the one man he needed to take care of the millions he had at his disposal for investment in the media front whiles for Bola Mr. Dufuor proved opportune as the one man to partner him with the funds to truly revolutionise the face of radio, TV and online content management in the country.

With Starr 103.5 FM operating in the English segment in Accra, Kasapa 102.3 FM chipping away the gains of Adom, Asempa, Peace, Okay and other Akan based stations and with Live 91.9, Ultimate 106.9, Agoo East 96.9, Empire 102.7 all being in the Excellence in Broadcasting stables, it is little wonder that poaching by the group with tantalizing offers has made hitherto loyal presenters and newscasters to dangle to the bait and leave their old employers without blinking an eye.
For years friends and associates of Bola Ray had love and respect for him but with the entry of the EIB holdings and being the captain at the helm of affairs reverence is the esteem in which the husband and father cum business don is now held.
Never one to be content with a day’s gain, Kwabena Anokye Adisi in furtherance of his empire ambitions set up the Empire Company to handle events and other such businesses despite serving in the Twum Empire. Parading leading music light Sarkodie, the gifted Stonebwoy and the unpredictable Shatta Wale from Ghana and securing the services of the Mavins Group represented by the music lord Don Jazzy, the delightful Koredo Bello, the music doctor Sid, the rising Reekado Banks, D-Prince and charming Di-Ja what is certain is that music fans would be spoiled for choice especially when telecom guru Tigo is on board.
But having Mavins on this billing is significant especially when Michael Collins Ajereh Don Jazzy just founded Mavins Records on 8th May 2012 after the golden egg layer of previous record lable Mo’Hits D’banj Dapo Oyebanjo decided to fly away.
It is a show of enough gas being in the tank of Don Jazzy that in 3 years he has managed to come back stronger and much diversified with 7 talents including Tiwa Savage who is heavily pregnant and a doubt for the Ghana concert. The group cultivated hard core followers with the insanely popular ‘Dorobucci’ hit released on 1st May 2014 to critical acclaim although others hits such as ‘Adaobi’, ‘Looku-Looku’ and ‘Arise’ have their own followers.
Both Bola Ray and Don Jazzy have something in common that is bouncing back from a slip and emerging even more powerful. For Bola having the courage to close the Joy FM chapter although nothing was guaranteed is testament to a believe in his dream and his willingness to work the dream into reality whiles Don Jazzy’s ability to quickly decide to form a new record label from scratch after the separation from D’banj shows us self-pity does no one any good and the Mavins success bears testimony to this.
