Oshoala wins BBC Women's Footballer of the Year award

Nigeria’s striker Asisat Oshoala has been announced winner of the first ever BBC Women's Footballer of the Year award.

The striker who joined Liverpool Ladies in January was short listed among four world top class women footballers for the 2015 award.

The nominees includes Veronica Boquete (Spain and FFC Frankfurt), Nadine Kessler (Germand and VFL Wolfsburg), Kim Little (Scotland and Seattle Reign FC) and Marta (Brazil and FC Rosengard).

Oshoala was declared champion after fans around the world gave her the maximum vote over her competitors.
