GHAMRO RELEASES ELECTION TIMELINES

The Receiver Managers of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) have confirmed 11th February, 2015 as the new election date for the upcoming election to the GHAMRO Board.

This was made known at a short media briefing at GHAMRO office last Thursday during a two hour interaction with the media.

The Secretary to the Receive Managers explained that, elections slated for 6th December, 2014 could not take place due to a court injunction brought by Rex Boateng, George Dickson and others.

She however emphasized that the interlocutory injunction was for only ten days and as at the time of going to press elapsed and therefore outlined the following timelines.

Under the process, applicants will be required to pay the fees for nomination forms same which is available at Accra, Kumasi and Tamale offices. 

Chairman - GH¢500 

Vice Chairman - GH¢400 

Members - GH¢300 .

She also asked the media to highlight to their listeners and readers the venues which includes 

Accra – CIBT (Social Advance) , Adjacent Teachers Hall at 9:00am 

Kumasi – Apatakese Ase, Cultural Centre at 9:00am 

Tamale – Cultural Centre at 9:00am 

Speaking at the press briefing, the Administrator, Mr. Abraham Adjatey stated that, during the past six month, the Receiver Managers had no access to funds because the Agricultural Development Bank placed a no debit on the GHAMRO Account due to the current court action. 

 He however expressed appreciation to the Press for the discourse on the issues currently ranging and further stated that GHAMRO membership have been reviewed to 3852 over 7000 membership because the criteria allows only person who have fulfilled the conditions. 

Mr. Abraham also indicated that, only persons who have applied and executed Deeds of Assignment will be eligible to stand and vote at the forth coming election but was quick to add that the registration will be opened up for members to update their records after the elections.
