SPORTS : Ade Coker Warns GFA Against Disrespecting Dzamefe Commission

Ex-Ghana FA Vice Chairman Ade Coker has warned the FA against disobeying the order of the Justice Dzamefe Presidential of the Commission of Inquiry to return the remaining US$3.1m from the 2014 World Cup earnings to the Sports Ministry.

“What needs to be done is that the Commission has given a directive and as law abiding citizens of this country, we should respect authority.

Our failure to respect authority opens a lot of cans of worms,” Mr. Coker told Accra based Starr 103.5FM. After paying a loan of US$4m to the Sports Minister Mahama Ayariga last week, the FA Boss Kwesi Nyantakyi insists it cannot pay the rest of the Brazil 2014 prize money to government until the Presidential Commission of Inquiry sends the nation’s football governing body an official communication, which they will be ready to respond to after an Executive Committee meeting.

Meanwhile, former Sports Minister, Paapa Owusu Ankomah, who is shocked at the order of the Presidential Commission of Enquiry, claims the World Cup earnings do not belong to government. “I don’t know why the Commission is ordering the FA to deposit all the money.

I don’t think it’s really necessary. It’s going to raise a lot of tension. The money is payable to the FA. It doesn’t belong to government,” Mr. Owusu Ankomah said.
