THERE is no doubt the music scene in Ghana is male-dominated but there are some female artistes who are giving the men a run for their money.
And it is the successful stories of such female artistes that have served as inspirational paths for up and coming artistes such as Afro Pop singer, Miray to tread on.
Last week, Miray released her debut singles, Swagging and Scream My Name.
Recorded by Infectious Seletions Studio in Taifa, Swagging and Scream My Name are both Afrop Pop songs. Miray exhibits her flair in ragga as she intermittently spits some ragga jargons to spice her rap on Scream My Name which featured Atumpan.
With its fast tempo fused with francophone beats, the duo gives a good account of themselves with their style of raps as Miray confidently brags about how she can give any man a good treat to get them to scream her name.
On Swagging, Miray talks about how most ladies grab attention on the dance floor because “they know how to do it hot and chic”.
Listening to the song, one may hear vocal traces and styles of both Tiffany and Eazzy but Miray debunks such claims and says it only shows her versatility as an artiste and not that she wants to be a “copy cat”.
“I am not copying anyone. It shows how versatile I am. Aside doing music, Miray is an artist, actress and also works behind the scene as a film writer, producer and director.
Signed on to Swagg Luna gh record label, Miray, real name, Miray Mansan Gomont first had a stint with the entertainment world when she participated in a dancing competition at Ivory coast when she was nine years.
Then she participated to a singing reality TV show audition in France in 2000. Later during her studies in the United States of America (2004 – 2008), she got to record her first professional song with one of the renowned New York Recording studios and later on performed at various great platforms such as B.B.King in Times Square (alongside the legendary Ghanaian musician Kojo Antwi), Adam Clayton building and Apollo Theatre in Harlem, Open Mics at Iguana Cafe dowtown New York, Marcus Garvey Park during Teriyah Festival, etc…
The half Ghanaian and half Ivorian ‘outdoored’ herself to the Ghanaian public when she performed alongside Sarkodie, Kwabena Kwabena, Fuse ODG and 2face Idibia at the 24 Nite Concert held in Kumasi last year.
‘I gave Ghanaians a hint of what to expect from me and I hope to keep up the fireworks ’, she said.
