Is the VGMA theme now ‘’No Vote, No Complain’’?

Without any doubt, ever since the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards was launched, it has generated so much controversy than any event, most of the time for the wrong reasons and this year’s edition is no exception.

When the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards was launched, the P.R.O of Charterhouse, George Quaye mentioned that the theme for this year’s awards is Music Everywhere.

However, after the unveiling of the nomination list which is creating so much controversy especially with the New Artiste of the Year category, it now seems that the spotlight on the theme Music Everywhere has been shifted.

In most adverts running on TV where celebrities are used to promote the awards, the emphasis is now on the fact that if one does not vote, then one should not have a cause to complain about the eventual winners of the various categories. One of the nominees for Female Vocal Performance, Gina West even mentioned that the theme was now No Vote, No Complain in one of the various adverts running on TV.

For now, the emphasis is on No Vote, No Complain rather than Music Everywhere. Is it that the theme of the awards has been changed or this is just a ploy to draw people’s attention away from the controversyIs the VGMA theme now ‘’No Vote, No Complain’’??  Time will really tell.
