BASS Awards 2014 Committee List Out Now

Organisers of the annual Bass Awards which seeks to reward African Reggae & Dancehall music has named members of the Awards committee.

The 2014 Committee features some old faces from last year and some new ones. The committee’s scope of work will include oversight responsibility of the biggest Reggae and Dancehall Awards in Africa.  They will be responsible for the call of entries, collation of submitted materials/works within the stated year, sorting it out, pruning down the numbers, properly placing them in the categories they fit and finally coming out with the nominees list for this year’s event.

Members of the committee were chosen based on their track record of helping to promote and develop Reggae & dancehall music in the country and in Africa. Conspicuously missing from the list is Talent Manager and Boss of Bullhaus Entertainment, Lawrence Asiamah Hanson popularly referred to as Bulldog and Rude Buoy Sterling who were all part of the committee last year. The committee sees a new entrant Makeba Boateng an Event & PR Specialist and Reggae/Dancehall activist.BASS Awards 2013

For the second time running, The BASS Awards committee will be headed by music administrator, Journalist & broadcaster Ahuma Ocansey also reffered to as Daddy Bosco who chaired the committee last year.

Bass Awards 2014 will come off in the second quarter of the year. This year’s positioning/theme is Turn It Up, which loosely translates as ‘Amplify or take it to the next level” in Patoa obviously in reference to taking the Awards to the next level after its successful launch last year.

Meanwhile the committee is inviting for submission qualified works from musicians and record labels for nomination in Bass Awards 2014. Materials should have been released between January 1st 2013 – 31st December, 2013. The deadline for submission is 31st March, 2014.

ABOUT BASS AWARDS :

It was launched in 2013,  The BASS Awards, is an annual event that seeks to reward African Reggae and Dancehall music.

The Award Scheme seeks to appreciate and celebrate musicians within the Reggae and Dancehall genre.

BASS Awards is the first of its kind and the future looks very bright as it touches on one of the most respected genre in the world. It is an established fact that Reggae and Dancehall has made a tremendous impact among music lovers and the artistes themselves hardly get noticed or appreciated. The award is specially designed to show gratitude to reggae and dancehall musicians, to serve as an annual gathering of lovers of reggae and dancehall and generally present top notch entertainment to the public.

The name of the event was derived from Rhythms and BASS (pronounced Base) which happens to be the basis for the reggae and dancehall genre.

The BASS Awards is jointly organised by Rackus Productions, Bullhaus Entertainment and Solid Multimedia.
