GOODBYE BLAKOFE & HELLO OHENABA AKUA

For many years, fans of TV and radio Presenter Blakofe have been wondering what her real name is.  Well wonder no more.  For the artiste formerly known as Blakofe is now going by her Ghanaian name, Oheneba Akua Manfo.  According to Akua “I decided to drop Blakofe and go back to using Oheneba or Akua because I travel a lot.  And in my journeys, I have somehow found myself being an ‘unofficial Ambassador’ for Ghana.  From America to Europe to Africa, people readily associate me as Mama Ghana or Mama Africa.  Each time I leave my house in ‘African print’ or accessories such as beads from Ghana, I find I am promoting my people’s culture, traditions and way of life.  As I have done on TV programmes such as GoldBlast, Amazing Ghana and Studio 53 where I had the wonderful opportunity to share Ghanaian cuisine, music, art, tourist sites etc. with an international audience. “she continues:

The 2013 Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts is scheduled to be held from 26–30 June 2013. It follows a fallow year, in which there was no festival and organizers are keeping a tight lip on performers at the festival for now.

With a solid tradition of excellence, the Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts is an event many people look forward to. It takes place near Pilton, Somerset, England. It is best known for its contemporary theme, but also for dance, comedy, theatre, circus, cabaret and others.

The first few editions were influenced by hippie ethics and the free festival movement. The festival retains vestiges of this tradition such as the Green Fields area which includes the Green Futures and Healing Field. After the 1970s the festival took place almost every year and grew in size, with the number of attendees sometimes being swollen by gate-crashers.

I WASN'T PAID FOR ASEM'S "BYE BYE"- KWABENA KWABENA REVEALS

Highlife singer, Kwabena Kwabena on The Late Nite Celebrity show, last Friday  revealed that he didn’t take any money from rapper Asem in doing his part of the song, Bye Bye. Arguably, Kwabena Kwabena’s verse on Bye Bye was what made the song many fans’ favourite but it was such a surprise when the video of the song emerged and there was no sight of Kwabena Kwabena was in it. Even though he was unwilling to comment on this issue during the interview, rumour has it that Asem totally cut Kwabena Kwabena out and made the song his own completely.

Asem has not come out to say anything about the song neither has he explained the absence of Kwabena Kwabena in the video. Aside the controversy surrounding the music video, Kwabena Kwabena on the show also revealed that he has a new management team working tirelessly to get him even further than where he is now.

SARKODIE'S MUM SHOW OFF HER "GANGSTER" IN SARK BASEBALL CAP!

Yes, I told you earlier this year that rapper, Sarkodie had launched his own clothing line known as Sark  The rapper has been seen wearing his creations in the form of shirts, belts and baseball caps in recent time. It seems that only Sarkodie and perhaps people close to him are testing the waters with the Sark brand until it becomes commercial. The latest person to be seen in a Sark item is the mum of the rapper, who was spotted in this online photo wearing one of the caps and acting all gangsta!!! Now that’s a truly proud mama!!!

Naa Adzokor Addo (MsNaa), host of YFM’s Morning Show Ryse & Shyne woke up on Thursday February 21 to a new voice on the 107.9 dial. It was the petite Babiee Dapaah, who had been asked by the station’s handlers to sit in for her.

Speaking on Peace FM’s ‘Entertainment Review Show’ last Saturday, Beverly, who is married to Eugene Baah of Praye Fame, said it was a rarity to hear Nigerian radio stations play hip life/Ghanaian songs on their airwaves.

A LETTER TO THE GHANAIAN MUSIC FANS

Dear fan, Hope you are enjoying the barrage of hot tunes being released thus far this year. From all indications,
our musicians have entered the year with a vengeance and the likes of Sarkodie and Efya, Edem, EL,
Manifest, Felly, Richie and D3 have set the tone for 2013’s sound policy.

My personal favourites so far though have included, Sarkodie and Efya’s “Devil in Me”, EL and
Manifest’s “Hallelujah” and new entrant Felly’s “Ghana Girl Swag.” Am sure with so much great music
to choose from, you will agree with me that the quality of songs being released on the local scene is
certainly rising to the highest international standards.

The music has gotten so much better that even our multinational corporations have taken notice and are luring artistes with mega payouts to act as their brand ambassadors.

CAROLINE SAMPSON REVEALS HER BABY-DADDY DUMPED HER ON VAL'S DAY

Ghanaian model, rapper, actress and Radio/TV host, Caroline Sampson has revealed that the father of her child walked out before her baby was born, and the breakup happened on Valentine’s Day. She also revealed that she was on air presenting a radio programme when the breakup happened, adding that Sammy Forson partly contributed to the breakup.

Narrating the story on Jeremie Van-Garshong’s show on YFM, Caroline explained:

“I still don’t get it but that’s what he did…I cried. It is like the only thing that comes to me when I think about it; like Valentine’s Day paaa. We were out the previous night. We were not together but we ended up at the same place. If he was hiding and I caught him then I don’t know, then the next day he sent somebody to tell me that it’s over ooo.”

“What is funny about this is that Sammy Forson is in there somewhere. Sammy Forson, Benny Blanco, Peer Pressure and Reggie Rockstone ….It was Sammy Forson, he caused it from day one. He gave me this voice-over job and I was recording it at the station (Citi FM) that I worked. He was going to come for it and I waited and waited for him. Like 11 to midnight this guy (Sammy) wasn’t coming. So the guy (baby daddy) called and asked me where I was and I told him I was at the station waiting for Sammy Forson and he thought I was lying. That was what happened; it was a week to Valentine. So the whole week, I didn’t hear from him because I was at the station working for Sammy Forson.”
