Rapper Denning Edem Agbeviadey known on stage as Edem has revealed plans to team up with gospel musician Celestine Donkor to record a tribute song for the late Komla Dumor who passed away last Saturday.
Komla Dumor, who hosted the the BBC's "Focus on Africa" programme, died suddenly at his London home.
Edem, speaking in an interview with Myjoyonline.com after signing the book of condolence opened at Joy FM in honour of the former Super Moring Show host on Joy FM, Tuesday, said the song is part of several activities he has planned to eulogize the renowned broadcaster.
"I'm going to do a song for him. I spoke to gospel artiste Celestine Donkor. We want to record a song [to honour him] and anything that is going to let people remember him, I would always want to be a part of it," he disclosed.
Apart from the song, the award winning musician said, "People are going to see me wear his branded t-shirts for a very long time. I mean branded t-shirts like they do for other legends, I'm going to wear it in my videos. I'm going to be caught at very places wearing it for a very long time in my career."
Edem said he heard of Komla Dumor's death last week Sunday through social media and lamented that, "I didn't meet him, the last time we were supposed to meet was when he told me he will be in Ghana in December and that when he comes, I should make a conscious effort to meet him."Komla Dumor, who hosted the the BBC's "Focus on Africa" programme, died suddenly at his London home.

They were supposed to meet for the first time at Reggie Rockstone's Office "but I didn't get the chance to go on that night and I guess that was my last opportunity of seeing him." Nevertheless, he said they communicated constantly through social media
According to the rapper, the late broadcaster referred to him as 'Amega' (Big man) and recounted that, Komla was on hand to give him advice "pertaining to how to handle the media. From the very onset of my career he was the person I will mail. That was how we related."
Edem described Komla Dumor's death as "a really great loss. I see him to be on a journey, he was supposed to complete the journey, come back home and be able to impact more when he has retired from whatever he is doing and he is now resident in Ghana."
He noted that because of Komla's depth and wealth of knowledge, Ghana would have benefitted immensely from his understanding of "economics, politics, agric... I feel that a vacuum is going to be there," and it will be very difficult to fill.
One key attribute the 'Ghetto Arise' hit singer said he will miss about the late broadcaster is his humility and noted that, in spite of his busy schedule, he had time for everyone.
Edem urged Ghanaians to take a cue from Komla's life and "be humble. We have to stick by our principles. We have to be upright and we have to try as much as possible to touch the life of everybody we meet on our way in this journey of life. We should be excellent in whatever field we find ourselves in."
