MUSIGA NOT FAIR TO THE GOSPEL FRATERNITY - Kofi Owusu Peprah

The Musicians Union of Ghana, MUSIGA has listed the top twenty most played songs on the radio for the year 2017 at a press soiree held in Accra on 12th January 2018.

Addressing the press, the president of MUSIGA, Bice Osei-Kuffuor affectionately known as Obour explained that data in the Music Industry is missing and so as part of efforts to catalogue useful data and keep memorable records of artists' contribution to entertainment in the country, the union has decided to outline top twenty songs every year.

He also emphasized that the list centers on the songs that enjoyed maximum airplay and popular among the people.

The list released didn't feature even one gospel musician. Ghana Music Awards Artiste Joe Mettle has commented on the no gospel musician list saying the list brought out is a mere opinion and he does not no the bases of their research.

Popular Kumasi based Gospel Minister Kofi Owusu Peprah has also added his voice to it.

speaking to magazine.thehotspotgh.com he had this to say when we asked him about his view on the matter

Kofi Owusu Peprah  sided with Joe Mettle and is asking How and why no gospel musicians name was featured on the list, he added its not because he is a gospel minister but gospel music is played on air a lot of times.

He went on to say a lot of dj's in Kumasi and Accra play gospel songs to either begin their programs or sign off as well as non related music shows on air play gospel songs a lot, if one is to compare it to that of the secular songs.

So just like Joe mettle said he also does not know how MUSIGA arrived at the names on the list. Kofi went on to say the entire music industry and specifically the gospel fraternity will be glad if MUSIGA can outline the processes used in arriving at the top 20 songs going on he said, Its high time the Music industry becomes fair in all its doings especially to the gospel fraternity he ended.

Born George Owusu Peprah, with stage name KOFI OWUSU PEPRAH, the minister is yet to bring out a single (anyway rumors have it the minister is set to release his first single in 2018) but has been on almost every gospel event held in Kumasi because of the passion he has for lifting Gods name on high whenever he steps on stage with his band (PECULIAR SOUND).
