They are mostly the unsung heroes of hits that flood the airwaves but the work of sound engineers is not given much recognition in our part of the world.
It’s not even surprising most sound engineers who work on hit songs aren’t known.
Moniebeatz is one artist who has constantly “fed” music lovers with his sounds and he is the “secret” behind Shatta Wale’s Low Tempo song.
“Loyal followers of music could probably name a few producers but don’t know many of the names behind the hits they love to jam to and party with. That has been the fate of sound producers,” he said.
“You put the best of creativity into a piece of a song which becomes a hit and the artist takes all the credit for it because you are behind the scenes.
“Thus when the artist gives you the opportunity to share in the glory, you feel more valued because your contribution has been acknowledged,” he recently said.

The native of Ho in the Volta Region who is part of Bhim Nation Global and Moniemusic record labels said that his works with big names like Sarkodie, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy have enriched his “employment record” but he is yet to reap the benefits of his hard work.
Moniebeatz is gradually carving a niche for himself as one of Ghana’s pride in sound engineering and production. His works on Stonebwoy’s Say It, Many Girls which was a single off Sarkodie’s Rapperholic, Adwoa (Shatta Wale), When I Grow up (Sarkodie ft Ikechekwu), Let’s Go by Sedem ft. Gemini and Thank You Papa by Kingzkid have drawn attention to his craft.
But it has not been all rosy for the old student of Abuakwa State College whose love for sound engineering and production was inherited from his dad. Even as a young child, he was fascinated by recorded sound when he watched his father play the drums and the lead guitar.
At an early age, he started playing drums at Sunday School and later went on to represent his Junior High School, Dora Memorial School Complex at various entertainment gigs.
His passion for music will later see him perform on bigger platforms like Kids Festival (Kiddafest) and National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFAC).
Fast forward to 2010, Moniebeatz, real name, Elorm Francis K Agorpah, recorded his first commercial song for contemporary Gospel artiste, Kingzkid, when he was at the Central University studying Business Law, Finance of International Trade and Entrepreneurship.
Today, Demarco, Patoranking, Deesse Major, Ruff n Smooth, Natural Face, MzVee, Medikal, Kelvynboy, Edi Young, Keche, Cwesi Oteng are some of the artistes he has worked with.
“I’m still working hard to become a global brand because this is just the beginning. But to achieve that, the structures within the industry must cater for our sector,” he stated.
