CORNERS OF GH 2016 : A TOURISM INITIATIVE BY CAMPUSBASETV

An idea that was conceived finally came into light a year ago when Ghana’s Number One Campus Entertainment TV Show Campusbasetv came up with an initiative to rediscover Ghana in the area of tourism.

That conception sought to create awareness and to promote domestic tourism amongst the youth hence gave birth to the name “Corners of GH”.

The First edition saw the students tourists who toured the central region of Ghana and the places of visit were the kakum national Park, the cape coast castle and the Elmina castle respectively. One of the remarkable moments of the said trip was that of the presence of the regional Minister Hon. Acquinas who applauded and commended the idea of growing back the interest of tourism again in the country.

The second edition of the much anticipated trip also came off a fort night ago with a trip this time round to the Volta region of Ghana and the places of visit were the tafi Monkey sanctuary and Biakpa Mountain paradise.

The journey started off from Accra, with an overhead stop at the famous Adomi bridge with lots to learn from the traders within that area.

Upon arrival, the group first visited the tafi monkey sanctuary, a traditional conservation area backed by statutory enforcement in cooperation with local communities of Tafi Atome. The sanctuary is home to mona and patas monkeys. The monkeys are regarded as gods thus the natives there do not kill them since they are protected by tradition. The group had a very pleasant interaction with the Mona Monkeys at the sanctuary due to the warm reception received from the tour guard.

This year, another remarkable moment was relished in the warm reception given to the team by the assembly woman of the Biakpa community as well as the cultural troup.
Lastly, the climax of the whole exciting better yet educative trip settled at the ever beautiful Mountain paradise. The mountain is a little spot of heaven, which is a refreshing retreat from city life. It’s just up the road from the village of Biakpa on the ho-HoHoe road and overlooked by the mountain gemi and the town of amedzofe.

There is no reasonable doubt that CORNERS OF GH is the biggest and largest innovative idea by Ghana’s Number one Campus Entertainment Tv show to promote domestic tourism amongst the youth and they certainly look forward to broaden their horizon due to the massive response they’ve surmounted this past 2 years.

This year’s edition was proudly supported by KENPONG TRAVEL AND TOURS, MR CANDY, KINGS MEDIA AND SWAG OF AFRICA.
