Perhaps I have little or absolutely no knowledge on branding especially on music but I am not out of touch with what common sense stipulates. Obviously, Vodafone Ghana is a brand; Bandana (ShattaWale) is a brand in the music industry too.
Focusing on his (ShattaWale) talent / corporate affair lately and Vodafone’s speed, there is a likely event, these two brands will do business together in the nigh future.
The usual ‘consistency in nonsense’ ie apologizing after every (deliberate) offence depicts the life of a toddler. One question lurks around my thoughts and it is; what will be the fate of this brother if these two brands (Vodafone and ShattaWale) should sit at the table over a contract with a supposed hash tag to be discussed soon lingering around the mind of the former brand?, your guess is as good as mine.
Common sense only states that, man up, deal with your mess in the right regard and make sure you whip your followers in line, this is after you’ve had a rethink of that ‘nonsense’ thought that ‘bad publicity sells’.
The issue with Charterhouse (a corporate body and organizers of GMA) is still in court if I’m right, you defy the rules of common sense and still file for nomination for the same awards you auctioned for 2ghc sometime ago on your official twitter handle, still we no bore but be reminded that we do not hate cocoyam and still eat it’s edible roots.
Now, some ‘confused and ignorant’ followers of this ‘celebrity’ are gearing up to touch another corporate body in the name of Vodafone. I really understand their outrage; unfortunately their ill-informed fire is directed at the wrong entity (deal with Charterhouse and the Board of GMA).
Now do not lose sight of the fact that, last year, we sighted a trend that sang along the lines of ‘No ShattaWale No VGMA’ by these same fans who ended up with him at the Beach (although most of them spied to see who won what and what). I expected common sense to work in their circles, at least to end the confusion they are subjecting themselves to on whether to boycott Vodafone sim usage or not if he is not nominated.
At least so they could counsel their idol to work on his attitude- celebrity status doesn’t mean radicalism, it means providing hope and leadership for the people you are likely to impact (perhaps Akon could serve as a mentor to their idol).
Fortunately my curiosity knows no bounds, let me ask perhaps I could find answers without getting abused by these same fans, what will happen to the Beach Jams this year?, has the beach been booked already by another performer?.
Let me hearken to add that, I do not hold brief for Charterhouse. I am only speaking my mind and though I believe our creative arts have not received enough support in this country especially musicians, I think we all can make use of our common sense in employing dialogue and not threats to settle feuds that’s brews it’s head with time- the very home sense a lot of us disregard.
Vodafone Ghana has served it’s part well as a corporate body by headlining the sponsorship in this annual award scheme. This same network has made it possible on their X package for most online surfers to touch the internet with speed at a cool rate.
My forebears taught me that, you do not rob an in-law you failed to give a gift, in view of this, I am starting my own hashtag #Vodafoneerrday to support Vodafone Ghana. Anybody that believes this nonsense must should hash tag along.
