AKA, the #3RDWRLDBOSS, has been listed as one of BBC Radio 1Xtra’s “HOT FOR 2016” artists, making him the only African based artist to feature on the coveted annual tip list which was revealed last night.
The annual BBC Radio 1Xtra “HOT FOR” tip list, hosts predictions of the most promising, exciting and sought after artists that they feel will emerge over the next 12 months.
The list has been one of the first to outline artists that have gone on to greater success such as the likes of Drake, Tinie Tempah, Emeli Sande, Sam Smith and Stormzy just to mention a few.
AKA’s, the official KING OF SA RADIO, inclusion in this years’ list is not surprising and is just testament to his crossover appeal for the European and American markets.
"This is unprecedented as AKA is the first African based artist to appear on the list during its 4 year run. Most artists on that list have had great careers and have gone on to be global phenomenas.
It’s a prestigious symbol of confidence in our work from one of the world's leading media players, and a great sign of things to come for the year ahead as the Vth Season team and AKA roll-out international growth master plans” expresses Benza, Vth Season Director and co-founder.
