On behalf of the Musicians, executives and members of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) I would like to wish all Ghanaians a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
In this season of goodwill, the Musicians Union of Ghana would like to remind all Ghanaians of our shared destiny as a people and the need to remain united at all times.
As Christians celebrate this birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we would like to urge all Ghanaians to enter the New Year with a renewed sense of purpose as a nation so that we can continue our national development agenda.
Indeed this year has been an eventful one for our industry and it gives us hope for a brighter future for the music industry. Some of these developments include the election of a new board for the collection management organization GHAMRO, the winning of the BET Award by Stonebwoy, Reggie and Bollie’s epic performance at the X Factor Reality show and Rocky Dawuni’s historic Grammy nomination.
As a Union, we also held the MUSIGA Grand Ball where we launched the Comprehensive Study on the Music Sector in Ghana and launched Ghana Music Week 2016 in the United States. Finally, we held our Quadrennial Congress in Koforidua where we elected executives to lead the Union for the next four years and also amended our constitution to reflect the changes in the industry.
Once again, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and may 2016 see more improvements in our music industry for the ultimate benefit of our nation, Ghana.
Signed
Bice Osei Kuffour
