We have won awards, some have every known brand of car in their garage, some have their real estate addresses in all the prime areas whiles some have bank accounts domiciled in various part of the globe, the list of our human excesses, successes and exploits and wastage can be endless. 

Our material mindedness, our insatiable crave for acquisition and jostle for territory control is the bane of human strife .

We have taken more than we have GIVEN, it is time to start GIVEN BACK. No one can ever give enough, we have received so much and it will be impossible to give proportionately to what we are given. VMBD-7

My reflections and thoughts as I celebrate another additional year to my earthly journey is both sober and emotional. In the last few years, I have consciously associated myself with the suffering of the masses and the less privileged. It was something I really needed to do in order to identify first hand with the socio cultural struggles some of our people face on daily basis.

Imagine the reality of facing hunger, deprivation risk of contacting diseases and other social challenges on daily basis….. I mean on a daily basis, it may sound like a hoax but it is not, people exist and relive in a world full of fear and uncertainty every day. Sometimes I think we abuse the rare privilege of enjoying a certain level of social security.

Our purpose of being on planet earth shouldn’t just be seen as a mere rite of passage but a deliberate, well articulated and planned agenda to exercise our rights to be human not just our human rights. We all need to reflect about our lives, as we grow older, perhaps wiser; are we more compassionate? Do we sometimes step out of our comfort zones and empathize with others who has less or almost none of what God has graciously blessed us with. We may never know what people are going through if we don’t go through them ourselves.VMBD

Growing older have thought me to be more conscious of the need of weaker persons, abandoned children, the less privileged and disadvantaged in our society. I am more determined than ever to GIVE BACK using every available opportunity at my disposal.

I celebrate every GIVER whose passion and compassion has made and continuous to make a difference. This league of philanthropic ladies and gentlemen continues to inspire greatness and goodness across the globe. In Africa, we have seen how poverty, wars, lack of education and other social ills have been a major stumbling block to our collective development. 

We have helplessly watched as others take advantage of the unfortunate lack of leadership in some of our political climes to usurp and redirect what otherwise is our commonwealth.

My name is VICTORIA MICHAELS, I am making a commitment to GIVE more than ever. I have never been more poised to do GOOD as I am today. My journey on the highway of being a BLESSING has just gone full throttle. Now I understand why the good book said “it is more blessed to give than to receive”.

I am a model cum entrepreneur, many thanks to my journalism training; the writer in me has a way of showing up in an activist manner, especially when the subject is something I am passionate about. GIVING BACK is simply a good way to say to someone less bestowed that they deserve better.
