Catch The Pope’s First Visit To Africa LIVE On DStv And GOtv

Following the success of the live coverage of United States President, Barack Obama’s historic visit to Kenya in July 2015, MultiChoice Africa is bringing DStv and GOtv subscribers yet another historic event this month. 

From Wednesday, 25th - 27th November 2015, DStv channel 199 and GOtv Plus channel 29th will showcase Pope Francis’ first visit to Africa since he was elected the 266th Pope of the Roman Catholic Church and Head of State of the Vatican City in March 2013.

DStv subscribers on Access, Family, Compact, Compact Plus and Premium packages and GOtv Plus subscribers will be able to view the pastoral and state visit live from the minute the papal plane touches down at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi on 25 November until Pope Francis’ departure from Kenya on 27 November to continue his tour in Uganda and the Central African Republic.

The extensive live coverage will include the Pope’s visit to the State House where he will hold a joint address with Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta to kick off the tour. Then on the 26th of November, viewers can look forward to one of the highlights of the papal visit, the Holy Mass celebration themed “Stand firm and be strong” at the University of Nairobi where an estimated 1, 4 million people are expected to attend.


The mass will be followed by more coverage of the pontiff’s visit to the United Nations Office in in the Gigiri area of Nairobi where he is expected to discuss climate change with members of the diplomatic corps at the United Nations Environment Program headquarters, This meeting will commence a few days before the U.N. climate change conference in Paris from 30th November to 11th December.

The Pope’s Kenya visit will conclude his Kenya tour with the coverage of the pontiff’s address to the youth at Nairobi’s Kasarani stadium where Barack Obama also addressed an estimated 300 000-strong crowd while on his visit in July.
