Canadian International Model, student, Host, current Ghana’s Most Beautiful Canada Pageant Co-ordinator and aspiring actress.

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

My name is Elizabeth Nana Yaa Obeng. I am a native of Ghana. A college graduate always looking for ways to better myself. I currently work, study at Centennial college in the Business accounting program, I'm a Freelance Model, Actress, Event management, and work with the Ghana's Most Beautiful Canada Pageant as the Pageant Coordinator.

Tell us what many people may not know about you?

It's funny many people don't know that I'm a very shy person. Although I have an outgoing personality it shocks many people when I show them my shy side.

What's your inspiration, how do you handle disappointments and get motivated?

My inspiration in life is my Mother, she has been through many rough times but always looks to God for strength to overcome the obstacles. This gives me extra strength and faith that no matter what happens there is light at the end of the tunnel.

How did you get to where you are now and what more do you hope to achieve?

Hard work, persistence and dedication has gotten me this far. I'm working on opening my own business to be one of the most influential business women of our time.

What would you like to be remembered for?

I would like to be remembered for my outgoing personality, as a hard working woman and for my love of life and all it has to offer.

How do you balance work, family, friends and leisure?

I honestly do not know how I do it at times. How I handle my busy schedule only God knows! I try to prioritize my agenda, always putting school first then everything else falls in place.

What's your favorite food, book, music and movie?

Banku and Okro stew is my favourite Ghanaian Dish!

Baby Genius is my favourite movie?

My favourite Genre of music is Hiplife and Old school R&B

What's your experience as a Black person in Canada?

As a Black person in Canada I've had the occasional run ins with individuals who have judged me based on my color. Overall being a person of Color at times can be hard due to the discrimination that we as a people face. A way to overcome is for the black community to come together and work as one. We need to build and support each other to show unity amongst the community. As well the way we present and carry ourselves is another area to work on.

Are there as many opportunities for Blacks in Canada that can produce role models, influencers and institutions like Beyonce, Tyler Perry, Obama, Oprah, BET, etc.

As black people we have the oppurtunity just like any other race of people to produce role models. It's about the individual putting themselves out there to do so.

Mention a few of your favorite Black Canadian Leaders, Artists and Role Models?

Barack Obama , Tyra Banks & Kofi Annan

Should and do Blacks support / patronize black music, events and businesses?

Black people should support positive events within the community and outside the community.

A few words from Elizabeth to an uninspired person:

Believe and have faith that there's is more to life. Life is what you make it, without hardwork and determination you will not get far. Once you have a dream, turn it into a vision and make it happen. Do not let anyone steer you from your goals.
