Celebrities Should Respect Bloggers

My journey into the world of entertainment as a blogger started as a result of limited job opportunities in the entertainment sector of the media, writing for several websites and newspapers as a freelance was what I did most often without getting paid for services rendered, and that has never been my problem.

Lack of income could not stop me from doing what I do best, as I built courage in myself and improved on what I wish to make my profession. Having studied Journalism and Media Studies from an I.C.M recognized institution P.I.J, and still studying in a higher institution, I believe blogging was not a bad choice for me to have made.

I am just mad at our so called “celebrities” who go about insulting and rebuking the media (bloggers) over issues that are of public interest. The day one decides to walk into the world of fame, that person gives the media the right to check on every activity they make, whether good or bad, even when it is not clear to anyone.

Recent attacks on the media by celebrities, have kept me asking questions as to why these celebrities are that “ungrateful”. I remember late last year, Sarkodie posted pictures of him traveling with his mother and sister in addition to his team, flying business class to a show he had in London.   The media made story out of it, all to the credit of Sarkodie without asking questions.
Just last week, Ghana's female representative in the Big Brother Chase Edition, Selly posted similar pictures of herself and a friend or sister together, sharing a friendly kiss, and the same media has made story out of it, without asking questions.

All I am trying to make clear here is that celebrities must be careful of things to post on their social media networks. This is because we are humans, and not everyone would have the opportunity to ask questions about any activity of a celebrity.

I hereby advise that our celebrities learn to employ the services of these bloggers rather than make statements like “The media is looking for stories to sell their papers”. These same “story hungry” media people made you the celebrity you are today, and as such you owe them the price of helping them sell their papers.
