TODAY IS 100% GHANA MUSIC DAY ..!!!

The Musicians’ Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, has  as part of the Ghana Music Week celebration, declared Saturday, 2nd March as Ghana Music Day and are appealing that all radio and television stations including entertainment facilities in Ghana  mark the day with one hundred percent  Ghanaian music.

It is hoped that this appeal will eventually make the presenters and hosts as well as their producers dig deep into their music libraries in order to bring out some somewhat old tunes for the enjoyment of their listeners and viewers. Entertainment houses that use music as part of their services are expected to play only Ghanaian music. If they happen to want to play slow paced music, the Ghanaian authentic slow pace highlife will come in handy.

The hiplife and hiphop beats and dancehall tunes will come in handy for the party folks while the atenteben, and other traditional tunes will hopefully bring back smiles on the faces of the elderly while teaching the young ones a thing or two about a different aspect of our music.isorganizing the first ever edition of Ghana Music Week festival dubbed; ‘Engaging Music as a catalyst for Unity and National Growth’ in Accra at the National Theatre for the period spanning March 4 – 10, 2013.
The main objectives of the Ghana Music Week (GMW) is  to among other things, create the industry’s biggest platform to harmonize activities of artists, to help in the promotion of Ghanaian music both locally and internationally, to bring key stakeholders together including the media to support the course of Ghanaian music and to showcase the values of Ghanaian authentic music and tourism.

MUSIGA and the Ministry is entreating all media houses and entertainment centers to adhere to this appeal in order to set the pace for the Ghana Music week celebration from Monday March 4th  -10th 2013.
