When it comes to DJs, it is a male dominated industry with almost every famous DJ being a man from the likes of DJ Clue, DJ Khaled and David Guetta. There is no doubt about it though, female DJs are making head ways all over the world! Africa one of the names that come up is 'DJ Kess'.
After winning the Best Female DJ at the maiden edition of the Ghana DJ Awards in February, she picks up another nomination. DJ Kess is nominated for the ‘Best Female DJ’ at the upcoming African Global DJ Awards on May 4th 2013 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
At the Press Conference on Friday March 1st, DJ Kess said: “I am happy to be nominated and to set the pace for other female DJ's in Ghana and Africa". She added, “I just hope I win and ask all fans, family and friends to vote for me when the voting process begins on March 15th so I can make Ghana proud, and shout out to my Team too #TeamFaded for all the support”.
DJ Kess discovered her talent in Senior High School (Archbishop Porters Girls, Takoradi) when she was the schools official DJ, she has been dj'ing professionally for the past 7 years. She is known for being a radio DJ on YFM 107.9 playing on the Y Lounge with Ace Radio Host Jeremie between 7 - 10pm, from Mondays to Thursdays. She also doubles as a club DJ as well at Bella Roma, a popular bar & night club in Accra. DJ Kess’ star rose even faster when she represented Ghana at the Big Brother Africa House in South Africa 2011. She was playing jams that had the house mates raving like never before.
After rocking in South Africa she performed, amongst others in Benin (Etisalat, Concert 2012), Nigeria (Copa Coca Cola, 2012) and Liberia (DJ Kess LIVE at Club Dejavu, 2012).
